High Heels in the Rain The (G) last time that I saw her, she was (Am) standing on the sidewalk in (D7) front of the (G) town cafe, When (G) I called out her name she (Am) smiled and she waved then she (D7) just looked back down (G) again. Maybe (C) she didn't want me to come on (G) over or (D7) maybe she was just ashamed Of the (G) bright coloured paint that she (Am) wore on her face and then (D7) high heels that she wore (G) in the rain. (G) They had them a place (Am) on the sixteenth line, (D7) a mile outside the (G) city. (G) And the truckers come in (Am) with all their sad stories (D7) she'd feed them breakfast and (G) pity But the (C) days were long and (G) the work was hard (D7) and she decided to (G) trade (G) Bacon and eggs (Am) a buck ninety-nine, (D7) for high heels she could wear in the (G) rain. (G) She moved into town and (Am) she got her a place (D7) that looked off onto the (G) street. (G) Him and me we sit in the shadows (Am) and we listen to the music (D7) that comes down through her (G) screen. (C) IN the mornin', she wakes up and (G) draws back the curtain and (D7) looks out on a brand new (G) day. (G) She puts on her things and (Am) steps into the street (D7) with those high heels she wears in the (G) rain. (G) He used to drink cause (Am) he though it might save him (D7) now he just drinks to (G) drown. (G) There's been times that I've told him that (Am) I wanted to help him, he says (D7) he'd rather I just push him (G) down.
